Leathernecks Motorcycle Club Florida

Membership in the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club Int. is open to all active, reserve, retired and honorably discharged members of the Marine Corps and FMF Corpsmen. We have no need for reputation building, The Eagle, Globe, and Anchor needs no introduction. We fly USMC and NAVY CORPSMAN as bottom rockers because we can. We are not interested in joining or interfering with the affairs of others and only desire to ride our motorcycles in the company of our brothers as free men on open roads. The Leathernecks Motorcycle Club is not political and claims no territory..

Signing up to this website (http://www.flscleathernecksmc.com) does not make you a member and we are not a mail order club. Just as you earned the right to wear the EGA you will earn the right to be a part of the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club.

Now let me get this straight to be in the leathernecks Motorcycle club even though i earned the EGA and also a combat vet i still have to prove the right to be in your club???

I am the president of Tun Tavern Marines of the Kansas Chapter and all you have to do is provide us with a DD-214 showing us you are actually who you are and that you done your service in a honorable fashion.

We are a riding club that assists our local services (VFW)( American Legion) on funeral details and escorts and do things for toys for tots and bikers for babys. Some of us are not only Marines but retired or active duty Law enforcement officers that still have arrest powers in the state of Kansas. We welcome any and all Marines and Navy Corpsmen.

You are welcome to ride any kind of bike in our riding club as long as its over 750 cc or above.
you run what you brung is our motto.

all we ask is that you hold yourself in the highest esteem and be a professional as we know we where trained to do and be.

We do not tolerate 1% if they start it you will be asked to leave the Riding club.

Cowboy. Sounds like you have a good thing going in Kansas, I too am a President but of the Space Coast Chapter of Leathernecks in Cocoa Florida. The big difference we have is that we are an MC not an RC, there are different rules and culture that go with both but to be in one or the other is personal preference. We provide a packet of information to everyone that is interested in joining to educate them on what an MC is, that is why we have a hangaround period. If they don't like it they don't come back but I can tell you Marines are looking for the camaraderie that we are providing and when they see our Club and the level of commitment, structure and dedication the members and the club display they drank the punch and want more. The comments and feedback we get from most are they tried the hog chapters, they tried the legions etc... but none provide what their looking for and when they ride with us they have what they have been looking for. So with that said the People who want to be in an MC make the commitment if they don't no harm no foul and they go to whatever ever riding club they're looking for, some are weekend riders who only ride when the temp is right and no chance of rain, that is not what were about.

There is a difference between a riding club and a Motorcycle Club,....a huge difference.

Long ago, I tried being a member of various organizations, for fellowship or riding or just the companionship of similar likes. Usually it only lasted for a short while because of the prohibitive amount of rules and regulations that seemed to always end up taking away either the rights of the members or the rights of the non-members. By and large, I have learned over the years that I am not a joiner, I consider myself to be more of a loner or independent, originally by necessity and now by design or choice.

True, although next to the Marine Corps itself, Leathernecks MC is pretty much the coolest thing I've ever been a part of.

From what you and others say, I don't doubt it is an excellent club and I have no reservations about it being anything but what you say. I did meet with someone a few years ago here in North Carolina who was a member here locally and I also was made aware of a somewhat lengthy period of determination by the membership to accept or not a new applicant. This does seem to me to be counter to a warm welcome based on being a fellow Marine or Corpsman who rides, but I understand it is legal and within the boundaries of being a private club with restrictions and rules based on what and who the club deems acceptable. This just seems to keep me away from allowing this club to have me as a member, reverse qualification if you will. And what bike brand I ride should matter little, compared to being an Honorably discharged Marine, Viet-Nam vet or otherwise and I do happen to ride a Harly but so what ?

Hey Scott, I didn't know you rode. Down here in SW Florida I belong to the Legion Riders and the Combat Vet's, both rc's not mc's clubs. Out and about I sometimes run across 1 or 2 of the Leatherneck's, but only occasionally.

What gets me about many of the mc's is that they are lowering their membership requirements. The enforcers (cops mc) clubhouse is only a little over a mile from me. I sometimes stop and have a beer on the way home. Many of their members were not cops but are cop supporters. A good friend of mine is joining the Nam Knights. What's funny to me though is that he was never in the Nam, he was never in the service.

When the Vietnam Vet's MC approached me they guy was never in the Nam, he was in the coast guard and never left the states. What's going on with these clubs other than they are competing for members.

Of course the legion riders are made up about half sal's, son's of legionaries. Seems like all the pog's from back in the day want to join up with either military riders or clubs themed from the military. That's why the wife and I just go out on our own many times.

I feel that my right as a Marine has been earned as well as my right as a Nam Vet. I ain't fetchin no beers for a coastie or a wanna-be to "prove" myself "worthy" of wearing emblems or patches that I have already earned the hard way. That's just me. S/F
