I don't remember all of this one.. So if anyone remembers the rest, I'd really like to hear it...

I had a girl in a Mississippi town,
She made her livin’ goin’ up and down.
She’s the girl on the corner street,
Just the type of girl you’d like to meet.

    C-130 Recon

    I know the C-130 cadence has been worn to death, but I figured I'd post the recon version for those who are interested in another variation;

    C-130 rollin' down the strip,
Recon Daddy gonna take a little trip.

Stand up, buckle up, shuffle to the door,
Jump on out and yell “Marine Corps!”

If that chute don’t open wide,
Recon Daddy gonna take a little ride.

Since that chute won’t open round,
Guess I’ll be the first one on the ground.

    A-Lo Righty lay-eft,
    A-Lefty Righta left.

(I seem to remember it being longer but for some reason can't remember the whole thing.)

    Your Corps

    Your Corps

Delayed, Cadce Call, Cadce Call, Cadce Count, -- 1!
    A Little Louder, -- 2!
Roll your Shoulders back, -- 3!
Lift your heads up high, -- 4!
Let me hear you cry, -- 1!
    Little louder, -- 2!
    What’s the matter, -- 3!
    Gettin’ Better, -- 4!
Altogether, 1-2-3-4 United States Marine Corps, Uuurr-Rah!
    Uuurr-Rah!, Uuurr-Rah!
    Uuurr-Rah!, Uuurr-Rah!
    Oh Yeah!, Oh Yeah!

    A-Motivation, Motivation.
    A-Dedication, Dedication.
A-To the Corps, To the Corps.
    A-Your Corps, Your Corps.
    A-My Corps, My Corps.
A-You can do it, You can do it.
A-I can do it, I can do it.
    Oh Yeah!, Oh Yeah!

Note: Part in italics is what the platoon says. This is a marching cadence and is probably one of my personal favorites even though I have NEVER heard another drill instructor do this one justice, (besides then Sr DI SSgt Earl!-3048-1981) I'm sure I just haven't been in the right place since, to hear it done well again!!

I'm sure there is a better way to represent some of these "sounds" but one of my old DI's had a REALLY COOL way of counting off a Delayed Cadence Count hence the reason that I spelled it Delayed "Cadce Call" as he seemed to take the "en" sound out of the word and only finished with the "c" sound at the end so it could almost have been spelled "Caids" Call "Caids" Count.

I ran out of editing time as I forgot to explain the "A-" sound that makes up part of this cadence, so I have to waste another entry... That sound is almost the "uh" sound except that it has the unique DI chop applied to it, making it more or less a run-on to the following word, hence the reason for the hyphen.

    Running Cadence 10

Ok, since BavariaDE posted such a great link to some recorded cadences, I'll start posting the lyrics so you can all learn them. Realize that some sounds are hard to express in written form, but hopefully I can make them close enough that you won't mistake the words... I also didn't include the unit response in this post as it mostly mimics the DI's call, if you would rather see both the call and response in future posts, let me know via PM and I will try to keep that in mind. (Now I guess I have to get a portable MP3 player for my routine runs!!)

Out in the desert late one night,
The grunts got into a helluva fight.
They got-a on the hook and they called us in,
    A-Arty Arty where ya been.
Sadaam, he’s up there on this hill,
The grunts can’t get him but artillery will.
A-Fire mission fire mission all six guns,
    A-Watch those cannoneers really run.
A-charge seven white bags shell HE
    A-x-ray yankee fuse a VT
A-charge seven white bags shell HE

A-Take that staff and a-ram that round,

A-Take the lanyard in your hand,
And fire your piece at a-my command.
The grunts they called us on the hook,
And said artillery-a take a look.
You gotta job and ya did it well,
Cause you blew Sadaam all to hell.

    In the original version (from my day anyway);
replace the first Sadaam reference with "The enemy"
replace the last Sadaam reference with "the bastards"

    a-Runnin’ everyday now.
    a-Runnin’ everyday now,
    a-Runnin’ all the way now.

Notes: Text in italic is the unit response - really only added since the last rhythm phrase is only called by the DI, "a-" or "A-" represents the DI chopped "uh" sound, "Ah-" is just a little more pronounced.

    -------------------------------------------
    Standard Notations:
Words in italics are the unit response to the DI's call.
The notation "A-" or "a-" denotes the chopped DI sound similar to "uh" making it more of a run-on to the following word, thus the reason for the hyphen.
