LCpl Jorge Ortiz- Thoughts and Prayers

Good Morning,

A few days ago LCpl Jorge Ortiz, 1st MARDIV Combat Camera 4612, was hit by an IED while serving in Afghanistan, he lost both of his legs and possibly his hands, they are trying to save his thumbs. He is stable at Bethesda. Plz keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Ortiz will be landing at Andrews Airforce Base at 4:30pm Friday, Jan 21. He will then be taken by Helicopter to the Bethesda ICU. He is stable, but they would not share details of his injury. If anyone is wanting to call to check on his status, the ICU telephone number is 301-295-2606, Mr. Gomes requests that calls come in after 7pm, due to the need of the staff getting Jorge situated and as comfortable as possible.

Hey All,
I was in the field all last week so had no opportunity to update but...

Ortiz is now out of ICU. He had surgery this morning on a back wound, and will then be placed in another room on floor 5 East at Bethesda. The phone number that goes directly to his room is 301-295-2953.
