I agree with this. The mental strain is what seemed toughest to me. Don't get me wrong it pushed me physically too but the feeling of "uncertainty" as far as going unq or getting injured was a lot to take.

From my experience, the guys that said boot camp was easy were the guys who got nothing out of it. You can see them skating out of police call, popping on **** tests, getting NJP's for stupid crap.

We had one boot, way overweight. The D.I.s put him through hell. He absolutly couldnt do one pull up. But he never gave up. His name was price. He kept on going and lost 53 pounds. He also graduated P.F.C. out of bootcamp.

    and

    The Corps sure has changed.

Can it be that there are actually individuals whose impression of boot camp is that it was "easy"?
How widespread is this belief? Nothing surprises me in the year 2010.

But, the question is, do you think it was easy or difficult or somewhere in the middle?
I can't believe anyone would say that Paris Island 3rd Bat was easy.

For me it was the hardest thing I have ever done and one of the Proudest moments my life to graduate and not be recycles one single day despite going in as a fat body.

Holy hell. I make one comment and suddenly I am an ashole. Nice attitude. I don\'t guess other people\'s opinions are looked at too well around here. I guess it is shame on me for trying to better my situation in life by attending college and getting a degree. Shame on me for tying to ensure when I decide to settle down and have a family I have some security which can be brought about by having something marketable to offer the workplace. And for the record I never one said I thought boot camp was easy. The only easy part to me was hitting the rack everynight. The type of attitude some of you have is exactly the reason I did my 4 and got the hell out. The whole \"I had it tougher\" bull****. Crusty ass ol gunny\'s lifing the **** out of you because they had it rougher. And now for some of you to try to diminish the hard work of Marines curently fighting in the box is frickin sad as hell. Actually, it is downright disrespectful in my opinion. Why not go tell Sgt German, or any of the other countless Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice how their struggle wasn\'t good enough. I\'ll just go on back to reading my liberal books to get my liberal degree.

I think post 41 needs to be read again, and this time, compare it with all other posts and see if there is anything, well, different, about it.
And please please please don't continue to portray yourself as some kind of victim, smatty. Read what you posted and how it sounded to others.

You come across as confrontational, then you say Gee, how come......LOL

Boot camp being easy has little to do with actual boot camp, but more with what you did before. For me boot camp wasn't that hard physicaly, that's because all I did as a kid and through high school was play sports. On the other hand, I could see where the guy that never did anything active would be coming fron if he said it was the hardest thing he had ever done. As far as the mental part, getting yelled at and fu*ked with 24/7 for three strait months is never easy, but it isn't the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. Seeing your friends get hurt and killed is way worse.

Settle down there guy. No one is calling you an a**hole. Listen to how defensive you just got. You really wonder why we said that earlier?

Come on, you know this is crap. Who are you trying to impress with all those big words. You're liberal! Jeez, I can't tell.

    That's a joke.

Smatty, your talking to a bunch of Marines here. Not some snotty nose boyscouts. We all think were tougher than the next one. We all think our bootcamp was harder, because we dont have another one to compare it to. I think the 3/26 was the best fighting unit in V.N. But Ill bet Advanced will tell you the 3/5 was. Thats the character of a Marine. To be better than anyone else. To be the best. S/F

You're damn right Billy, "The 3/5 Get Some" part of the Fighting 5th - most decorated regiment in the Marine Corps, and my PI platoon 336 was harder also. How ya'll doing?
