Are Combat Engineers similar to Infantry?

They say every Marine is a rifleman, and the branch is based on Infantry. So if my MOS wasn't 03XX would I still have an opportunity to go into combat?

I've been reading the MOS list over and over and was interested in Combat Engineers. I just wanted to know more about them, so if theres any out there help me out.
