I hear you there with the shinsplints I usually take some aspirin before I run. Our IST is on pavement which kinda sucks but when i run on my time i run in the woods and they seem to subside after a while.
At RT im guessing you will be running mainly on dirt versus the streets.
I take my initial ROTC PFT tomorrow. So stoked! I'll post my results so you guys can be the judge.

My very first PFT was horrible.
Run 23 minutes three miles
4 pullups
30 crunches
Second time around I did better.
21 minutes three miles

The last IST I ran was last saturday.

The run time was worse by 19 seconds but that could be due to poor hydration or because I ran too fast the first part, either way I need to work on it more.

Is this a good IST score to leave for boot camp with? I plan on working hard on the run because I have focused mainly on pull-ups and sit-ups.
We shall see what it becomes next Sat but presently I am at

I enlisted July 1st. My scores were 12 pullups, 64 crunches, N/A Mile (didn't get a chance to run it before I left on July 5). I would have had an active IST score before today had it not been for my 2 month forced vacation in Georgia.
Today we had an IST at the RS. I got 14 pullups, 72 crunches, 10:18 1.5mile rune. I barely did any PT during the time between the two scores. I need to start working out again.
Just got home from my IST today
Pull Ups: 9
Sit ups: 100
1.5mile: 10:59
