- Military Biography:
- Boot Camp in 1968, San Diego; (DIs were Staff Sgt. Corps and Sgt. Lombardi and Sgt. McClure). I was a squad leader. Training at NAS Memphis - MOS 6062 - A/C repair and egress systems mechanics (Ejection seats). My first duty station (1968) was MAG 26 at MCAS New River, NC, where we worked on Hueys (which have no A/C or ejection seats) so we worked on life preservers and fire extinguishers. After staging at Camp Pendleton (1969) I was transferred to NAS Futenma, Okinawa with VMO 6 where we worked on Hueys and OV-10 Bronchos. While there we were assigned to training missions in the PI (Subic Bay) and Tokyo. When my tour was over (1970) I was transferred stateside to NAS Dallas, TX where we worked on A-4s for the reserves. Honorably Discharged in 1970 as an E-4 with a National Defence Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
