and also when I went to take the ASVAB, I had 2 other guys with me, I had gotten a 42 and one of them got a 2 (yes a 2!) and the other got a 15. It could be alot worse..I promise if you study hardcore for atleast a month, you will be able to pass that damn test!!

I just wanted to say something about your sitation with the ASVAB, Mine was a little different, I needed a 50 because I was homeschooled, the highest I got was a 48..2 away!! I would have rather failed it by 20 than 2, but anyway, the 1st time I studied the ASVAB for Dummies (didn't help me out at all), got a 42, then was told to study my ass off and was advised to use march2success.com (its free and helps alot), So I took it and got my 48, than on my last attempt I got screwed over because I was really moto and the lady had given me the same test, so I had to go to MEPS and take it on the computer and bombed it. You wouldn't believe how much motivation you lose to failure, I wanted to give up but my recruiter kept telling me he would kill me if I ever gave up..so after failing it 3 times, they told me wait 6 months or go to college and get 15 credits and your in. So I did and it paid off. My point being I went through the same thing you are, I felt like letting myself break down, but once your down, you stay down. so dont do it! Stay motivated, I don't care what you gotta do, I kept watching Ears Open, Eyeballs Click, and regained my Motivation..NEVER QUIT AND NEVER GIVE UP!! If you really truly want to be a Marine than you will not let ANYTHING get in your damn way, If I can study my ass off and get a good score then so can you!! I suck at math and english, God knows how I got a decent score on it. Make a list of things that distract you from studying or focusing and do everything in your power to eliminate them, if its a video game, take it out of your room or hide it. Studying is key for you, just study alot about 6-7 hrs a day, taking about a 1hr break, like I said if I can suck at math/english and get it, so can you! Just keep the Motivation and Determination, and Never quit or Give up, if you give up on trying to get in the Corps, then you will give up IN the Corps.

This is in response to your Need Advise thread.
My situation was different. Military and health care are the two fields of my family. Everyone knew I was going to join, but they thought I was going Air Force. I wanted to fly jets, but I wear glasses. For me there was no other reason to go AF, so I said to myself that the next recruiter that walked through my classroom doors (Navy JROTC) was what I was going for. A Marine walked in, and (for me) everything stopped. I swear I saw a halo around him. I knew that if I could become a Marine I could do anything. I didn't ask permission. I just did it. My mother and sisters cried, but were/are proud. Some of my friends told me I was crazy, and a couple wanted to go with me. You can ask your mother to walk with and support you, but if your mothers' response gives you pause maybe you should stand down for a minute and make sure your commitment is strong and true. Perhaps her response is due the war?
