You have a good memory Nick. The Burke you are remembering was Tom Burke from Haledon, and yes he was the PBA pres. Did you attend the Bergen County Police Academy? I was there in '67. Maybe you heard of my brother Bruce Kuipers, he's a LT with the Mahwah PD retiring in 1.5 years. If you ever get a serious desire to revisit PI you can stay with my wife and me in our new home near Charelston, SC. We love company. PS!! I'm not a Decon but I was Pres. of the Dominick Savio club at Don Bosco Tech in Totowa, '57-'59. THE school is no longer in service. What a shame! Talk to to you, Rick K

I was born in Hackensack, NJ. lived most of my life in Wood-Ridge. Was a police officer from 1969-1994. If I remember, I umpired softball/baseball with a Mike Burke, a police officer in North Haledon. He was also the PBA president. I was with the Bergen County Pros. Office for 10 years. Did arson and sex crimes/child abuse cases. Came back to Wood-Ridge to run the DB. Retired a Det/Lt.
Have a great time at Parris Island, you are right, it will be an emmontional day. Please keep me posted, I would love to go back to PI one more time. Keep in touch.

Hey Nick, NJ huh!! Born in Paterson in 1941. Joined the Corps 1/5/59 and was also with the 6th Marines. Discharged from Annapolis barracks 1/63. Police officer in Haledon, North Haledon, from 67-80, know anyone from there? Moved to FL in '86, lived there untill this year when I semi retired to SC. Going to Parrir Island on 1/5/09 to celebrate 50 years to the day I arrived at Recruit Recieving. Should be an emmotional day.
