You ahve asked a question that has been asked many times. I will give it my best shot here for you. I went through back in 1973 at Parris Island a much different era than now. My experience is that it was 90% mental and 10% physical. When you ask is it as hard as they say I don't kow who you are referring to when you ask that question so I will assume that it is somebody that has never gone through with recruit training is so don't go by what "they say" first hand accounts are always more acurate. Don't ever beleive in what "they say". I also assume that you will be going to recruit traing in San Diego and of course any Parris Island Marine will tell you that the only place Marines are made is at Parris Island. San Diego has its challenges and are different from Parris Island. I would not want to be so close the runway that I would think that my freedom bird was taking off wthout me! When a Drill Instructor gives an order do it without thinking you will be a lot better off than the ones that think before they follow any orders.

is it as hard as they say it is

that is fine with me. my family is all about the military. well most of them anyway. i also want to serve my country. i wanto do the marines. i know it will be hard but i have always wanted to do that. that was a very good speech

I am still in high school and i am doing a reasearch paper for my english class. my tipic is should females in the military be excluded from direct combat or other hazardous situation? i thought that it would be nice if Marines from this site commented. I have 2 brothers in the marines and one in the army.

Hey Marine. No I haven't heard from him lately. The last thing I heard from him he was going to college and will probably be a teacher or a preacher? Generaly he is still getting his life back together.
