Wow, vic, seems like I was right behind you. MCRDSD 6/75-9/75, Montford Point 10/75-4-76, WERS17 (later H&GMS17) 11/76-11/77. Iwakuni was the BEST! There's a few pics in my albums. How many of you others spent any time at Las Pulgas? Candi, we broke a few newly-fixed vehicles in the hills behind Las Pulgas. GamaGoats were fun, they could sure climb hills! And 55, some MOS's haven't changed, my father was a 3531 driver in Korea in '51, it's still 3531!

I think the USMC is the only branch of Military to use cattle cars,I've spoken to former Army and Air Force and they have no idea what a cattle car is.

SSgt. Petz, Las Pulgas was my 1st duty station. I remember that hill, we broke some stuff on that! GamaGoats were fun on hills. Another fun one to run was the M274 Mule.

the hill I'm talking about is just before that little trail that lead up to the road right in the middle of the bend on it's way to the ASP.

I know we passed the creek there... the angle is so steep that the front end of the Hummer damn near touches the other side just before the wheels start to lift it up... I seriously thought we were going to get stuck... it's like a 45 into a 60... kind like driving into a wall and then the tires start walking up it.

Hmmm......., now I wonder if we're talkin' about the same hill. The memory is a little fuzzy after 30+ years, but, the hill I'm thinking of was out back of the shop (2 & 3 echelon, 43 area, Las Pulgas, the gun bunnies also lived there), and it was the steepest mutha around!
