Does anyone have any good information to comfort my wife.. I am 24 years old and wanting to earn the title Marine... I cannot really find any information for her to encourage my decision to join.. We have a 2 year old and she is about two years away from having a bachelors degree in Nursing. I am afraid to wait for her to graduate, Bc it may be too late for me to achieve my dream of serving this country and being A Marine!!! If anyone has any web links that would help ease her mind as I left for Parris Island that would bne very appreciative!

Question about erroneous entry

Okay all, my daughter has had one dream and one dream only for as long as I can remember...to be a Marine. She had a weight problem and she has quite literally worked her butt off for the last 2 1/2 years to make it to where she was within the weight standards. She has fought tooth and nail to be a Marine and was finally able to leave for boot camp on 05/05. Now, that being said, this was after 3 trips to MEPS, each time some thing or another was screwed up. Once something was left off of her paperwork, once they gave her shipping spot away, etc, etc. So, she gets to boot camp and in her first letter she lets me know that things are going well and she's already made squad leader. I got that letter the middle of last week. A couple days ago I get another letter telling me her ear had been really red and she was sent to medical and they in turn sent her to an ear/nose/throat specialist. Yesterday, I got a call from her telling me that she was being discharged and it would be listed as erroneous entry becauase supposedly she has something wrong with her hearing and never should have qualified for enlistment. First off, she didn't just squeak by at MEPS once and manage to get something over on them. She went 3 times and completed the medical exams and also completed the medical when she arrived at Parris Island. At no time did a hearing issue come up. I spoke with a Captain who advised that once she gets home, she can see a doctor and if it's something they can fix, she can always re-enlist later.

1. How could she get past 4 different medical exams and they not find an issue with her hearing until she's 4 weeks into boot camp?
2. It's my understanding that the Marine Corps is not currently allowing anyone with prior service to re-enlist. Is this going to mess up her chances at future enlistment?
3. She stated that they would not tell her what type of medical tests they ran or what the results are, only that she was being discharged...is that right?
4. Is there a way to challenge this discharge?...when I spoke to the Captain she stated that my daughter has been a great recruit, has had no problems with any of they physical demands, etc

Any advice is appreciated.

My son who is 16 has had the life long dream literally since he was 4 years old to be a Marine. He graduated early so he could join when he turns 17...

My son who is 16 has had the life long dream literally since he was 4 years old to be a Marine. He graduated early so he could join when he turns 17 this summer. He just recently got into some trouble. It pains me and shames me to say those words but I need some direction to point him in and it is the truth. I am not here to make excuses deny the truth, get sympathy or get a free pass for him. I am looking to show him what needs to be done to still accomplish his dream of being a member of the Corps and then let him do the work necessary to make it happen.

Let me explain my son went to pick up his friend's girlfriend with the friend and were pulled over by border patrol and led to secondary inspection where the guy 24 years old handed my son his and his girlfriends pipes and a small amount of pot for him to hold as the boyfriend said to my son he was a minor and would be ok. My son FOOLISHLY took possession. He was turned into the Sheriff where he was arrested. We went to the first meeting with the Probation Officer where he pled guilty because in our eyes he was guilty he admitted accepting the stuff that was handed to him. The arresting Sheriff told me and is willing to write a statement for him indicating that he thought my son was a fool for being with these two, but that he felt is a was sleazy for them to have unloaded on a minor.
I certainly can not say that my son is innocent here he was a fool and made an incredibly wrong choice. A choice that we all fear will hamper his getting into the Marines.
upon a background check it can be found my son being an active member of his community, a good student, a strong intact family background and no previous disciplinary problems and then THIS . We will disclose this 100% honestly and not hide from the truth .
My questions are simple:
Is this something he recover from?
what is the first step ?
How does he go about restoring his integrity, honor and reputation for the Corps.
( I have my own punishments and rebuilding I am making him do to make up for the shame he has placed on our family, I just know that a mother's word for her son is not what it takes to have him shine for the Marines)
I look forward to any answers I get
Thank you so much

I like to post this every Mother's day for M.O.M. (Mother Of Marine)

As you enter this home, do so with reverence and awe. For within this home dwells one of God’s many creatures, in fact it is God’s greatest creature. You see this creature is a MOTHER OF A MARINE.

She has a special gift. She nurtures this gift in her womb for nine months. She then suffers excruciating pain which in an instant turns into uncontrollable tears of joy. She raises this gift, protects it, teaches it, and keeps it safe and warm. Then one day she presents her gift to America.

This special gift gives all Americans the right to worship God in whatever manner they choose, at whatever time or place. It gives Americans the right to shop where they want, live where they want, marry who they want, work and travel where they want. It gives them the right to say what they want. Yet sadly there are those who thru ignorance may speak evilly or despitefully of it.

But this gift has brought safety and security to America and many other far flung places around the globe.

This precious gift is an UNITED STATES MARINE.

Only she knows the fear of an unexpected call, breaking news bulletin or the most dreaded of all, the knock on her door.

So as you enter this home, bow your head and silently thank God for his greatest of all creatures the MOTHER OF A MARINE

My BIG worry is if my past could hurt my son. I am an alcoholic 13 years sober but had 3 DUIs which got me a felony DUI charge. I have always hoped my past would never come back and bite my kids in the @$$ because it was not their fault.
They have become great kids despite my past, and in a small town that meens alot.
