Thanks Marines!

I currently have come up with quit a few questions regarding asthma and really need them answered.
Background info. When i was 5 i was diagnosed with asthma due to pneumonia. And was prescribed inhalers, which i used for seasonal purposes, due to the doctors request. I havent used the inhalers since about 11 and havent had an asthma attack ever or had to use inhalers. Ive been able to perfom well in all sports and usually perform at the top of all sport activity.
1. No symptoms after 13, will i still need a waiver if it was before.
2. If i get methacoline and pulmonary function test done and pass will i still need waiver.
3 say i get waiver and its accpeted and pass boot camp, will the medical waiver affect me if i choose to try recon and pass requirments.
4 how can i do any time of special operations(recon or MARSOC) or sf if i aquire a waiver and its passed.
i know the final conclusion will be talk to recruits but id rather get others input as well, and i also know ill be bashed on for wanting to join special ops.

Hi to all of you, I am new here and here is my concern..

I know that the military takes a good look at your credit score and I have never had a financial problem of any kind (I have also never been in debt)

but yesterday I was talking to one of my dads friends and I dont know how the conversation started but we ended up talking about credit score and how the military takes a good look at it. I told him that I never had a credit card because I really never had to use it (I know how to manage my earnings very well, so I thought there was no reason to get a credit card) but he told me that in order to have a good credit score I would have to apply for a credit card and use it for some time and then pay in time, so the credit scores goes up.

So my question is ... Do I have to apply for a credit card and use it to get a good credit score before MEPS ?

I am really confuse about this ...

Also I would like to apply for Infantry (It's been my dream since I was 7 years old) but I heard from Poolees that the Marine Corps is not letting a lot of people apply for Infantry and that DoD is only taking reserve contract and not a lot of Active Duty is this true and if so why ?

Thank You Reading & Have A Great Day

I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times, but I haven't found any good responses. Most of the time the people asking have really low line scores. I got a 92 on the asvab and my lowest line score is 124. My mechanical and electrical are 135. I am genuinely interested in just about anything. I am looking at intel or combat engineer right now, but just wanted to get your input. For example of you have been in for a while, and you have seen a job that you wished you would have done let me know! Thanks so much!

Hey Marines,

I would post this in the POOLee hall, but obviously I don't have a ship date yet so I assume this is the next best place.

I was dropped from OCS PLC-seniors during the summer of 2012 as part of the night land nav scandal where a record number of candidates were dropped. Since then I have decided to enlist and pursue a career as an officer later on, unfortunately it hasn't gone as smooth as planned though (same thing everything else experiences I'm sure). I had to get a waiver for my shoulder, which I also needed for OCS, and it went through pretty smoothly. However I also need to get a waiver for being dropped from OCS, which I've been waiting on for months. My recruiter thought my whole path to enlistment would be fairly easy just because of my background of being a candidate, but he hasn't heard a thing about it sense it was submitted.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with the OCS drop waiver because I haven't seen anything about here or anywhere else after extensive googling. So if anyone could tell me what the process is or what to expect it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so i leave to bootcamp Aug.5 (supposed to be July 8 but pushed back for no reason), and i had to pick my mos but i had very little options and none of my 3 choices that i qualified for and that i asked for last October were available and ive been in DEP since Aug 13, 2012. I want infantry but it is full and i chose an open contract hoping maybe infantry would open up (knowing that open is the worst thing you could do), but can i wait until a spot opens up even if that goes past my ship out date? could my recruiter push my ship date back? and if it goes past my DEP 365 days Aug. 13 will i have to re-enlist into meps and wait alot longer before i ship out??(which would make me consider another branch, WHICH IS WHAT I DONT WANT! i want to be a Marine and serve but i also have a life to and cant wait) Also could i just wait until Oct. once all jobs open up??(bt wld go past my DEP 365 days)
*Recruiter questions, I know, but he has also screwed me over twice already

Hello everyone I've been interested in joining the Marines and it has come to my understanding that you can enlist straight into being a crew chief. I know of all the requirements but only one of them isn't to clear with me and that's the vision requirement. It says "Must have normal color perception" I'm not color blind, and my vision isn't too bad but I do wear glasses. So I would like to know if that would disqualify me for that MOS, and if it does would Lasik surgery be fine for me?
Any information you have will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I just wanted to get some feedback from Marines who might be able to give me an idea of my chances of getting into OCS.

I am a 28 year old attorney. I was sworn into the Illinois Bar and the Federal Bar just this past November. I went to a decent law school with a 3.2 GPA.

I played football at a division III college and have kept in shape since. My current PFT score is about 270. (I realize I need to get this up)

Currently I do work on a contract basis for various law firms around the city of Chicago, and take several volunteer cases for poorer folks who can't afford attorneys.

Despite my degree, I realize there law is a difficult MOS to be selected for. However, I want to go in with the attitude that I am willing to do what the Marines ask me to do even if that has nothing to do with the law. I am going to contact my local OSO on Monday

I really appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

So I'm pretty dead set on joining, i just cant decide if i want to join reserve right now(while in college) or AD after college. I am determined to finish college on time so i don't want to take any time off, accept for boot camp etc. I'm not sure about ROTC honestly. But i wanna clear up a rumors i hear. Do reserves get called to deploy often? I have no problem going into combat, or anything. Like i said i want to finish college in time, but i also want to be a marine. Always wanted to, I'm just exploring my options right now.

Is the reserves a good idea for me? I'm not just looking for college money and benefits i have wanted to be a Marine since high school.

If any reservists can help me out based on your experience that'd be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Marines !
I've kinda been lurking in the shadows a bit , but now i have some questions if you could try and please answer them

Anyway i really want to join the millitary , I'm deciding between the Marines and the Navy . Marines -infantry and Navy - corpsman in a Marine unit .

So basically i have until next years summer to get in the best possible shape for the PT . I'm aiming to score somewhere in the top 10% .

Currently I'm trying to get my PT scores up , my current scores are
Pull ups - 5
Push ups 32
Sit ups - 68
Crunches -50
Run = no idea .

I'm a pretty big guy 6"2 180lbs

I'm currently on stronglifts 5x5
135 bench and squat
95 shoulder press
No deadlifts

So what I'm asking is what's the best way to train for military PT'S ?
It doesn't seem like 5x5 is helping me that much in that category .

P.S - I have a ton of respect for you guys (Marines) out there , and I'm hoping one day to "earn" the title of an Marine .

Any help in this topic is ap preciated , thanks a ton !

I am currently a Poolee with a scheduled ship date of 20130916 and with Aviation Support contract. If yall have the time I hope that yall can answer a question for me. I understand from my recruiter that there are only a few jobs in said contract. I have been a firefighter for over 7 years now with several certifications under my belt. What are the chances of me getting chosen for Crash, Fire, Rescue? I know that my certifications will not carry over into the military. Just wondering how it will be determined on exactly where I will be placed. Is there a test given to see where I would be most beneficial to the Corps?
