Conversation Between vmfn513 and Shrink

Since we're both old "China Marines" it seems appropriate that we should be friends. I landed at Taku October 1 1945, with the 1stBn 5th Marines. After the ChiCom raid on the 1stMarDiv Ammo Supply Point on 5/6 Apr47, guarded by 1/5, and the many Marine casualties, someone decided that 1/5 should be pulled out and sent to the 1stProvMarBrigade then forming on Guam. One ironic point is that our KIAs and WIAs that we had in North China couldn't be awarded a PH because the ChiComs were not our "official enemy." Not until after the Korean War was over was this corrected, and those of us who were wounded were told that we could put in for our PHs. Went back to Tsingtao from Guam in '48 although I had to extend my enlistment to get that done. Anyway, it's nice to have another "Old China Hand" on the board. Salute! Semper Fidelis, Sully
