  1. Following Orders

Several Congressmen got together one day and decided too award a large grant to one of the armed forces of the U.S. So they called the Joint Chiefs of Staff together and told them they wanted to see what branch of service could follow orders to the T, no matter what. So a test was arranged, they wanted one member of each branch chosen, the best of the best. The next day members from the Air Force, Navy, Army and Marines were all standing tall, no one knew what was about too happen but knew it was ...

  2. Reenlistment help...

I have been in the Marine Corps now since 2001. Upon my End of Active Service in 2005 I fell into the Individual Ready Reserves. After months of being lead around in circles I came in contact with a Prior Service recruiter who helped me continue my service (which is no longer in the Marine Corps). I was attached to the IMA DET in 2007. After 3 years in the IMA DET my End of Current Contract is just around the corner (10 DEC 2010). Meanwhile I have been seeking assistance for re-enlistment opportunities ...

  3. Vietnam I Corps Marines 1965-1975

Growing up on the south side of Chicago was my whole world as a kid. I came from a poor Mexican American family so going to school and hanging around the neighborhood was pretty much the extent of my life experience.

Marine Corps Boot Camp was my first real experience outside of mommy and daddy's house. When I look back at it now I think to myself, what a way to get started in life. Talk about a rude awakening and culture shock. Nothing like a Marine ...

I Corps in Vietnam for those of us that served there left a deep impression in our minds and that's an understatement! It's with me everyday of my life since I came back ...

  6. Marines and SuicideGirls

So a friend of mine tells me that she wants to become a Suicide Girl. Basically, a softcore website that doesn't promote porn, but basically showing strong women in the working world depicted as 1940s and 50s pin-up girls. When she first told me that she was interested, i was happy for her and excited. But one day after visiting the site, i thought, "didn't a female marine get in trouble for the same thing with playboy?" and when i told my friend that i didn't think it was going to ...

  9. Grandma's Nuts

After a hard day of football practice, the grandson stops by his grandma's house to see how she's doing and make sure everything is all right. Granny was sitting in the living room watching her favorite tv show, when grandson sits down and shares some telly time with her, when he notices a can of nuts on the table and he ask granny if he could have a few, sure go right ahead boy, help yourself, After about 15 or 20 minutes of tv and munching on those nuts, they were all gone, he tells granny, am ...

  10. My Old Squadron At Last

It took a long time, but i finally found my long lost squadron from back in the day. VMA(AW)533 attack squadron has moved from MAG-14 Cherry Point NC. to MAG-31 Beaufort SC. and adopted their new name, VMFA(AW)533. From the A6E Intruder, the old sky pig as we use to call it, to the F18 Hornet. When i stumbled across the website of my old squadron i was happier than a virgin on senior prom night. I was in VMA 533 from 1979-1983 and was proud as hell to have been a part of that squadron. Comming from ...

  11. Baptism Under Fire

To all who have served in conflicts and wars for this nation, I SALUTE YOU FOR, THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN I BOW MY HEAD, AND THOSE WHO TRIED AND DID NOT MAKE IT, YOU GAVE IT YOUR BEST. When Marines are called to battle, they don't ask why, they just go, kick a-- and take names. Every inch of soil, every drop of water that has the Stars and Stripes flying over it, it's guarded by U.S. Military personnel and some countries do not appreciate our presence (a--holes). After Vietnam, one or two years later, ...

  15. Shark Bait

During my tour at Guantanamo Bay Cuba, i haven't even been in the FMF a year yet, but being on the fenceline at GTMO you grow up fast. The fenceline could become a combat zone at the drop of a dime. You could be driving down the fenceline at night and see AK-47 fire hitting the fence, or standing guard in an OP and watch defectors climbing the fence while Cuban soilders chase them. Anyone who has ever been on the fenceline know it's tales. Driving my 5 ton down the line one day with a few grunts ...
