Big Decision

Posted 10-20-09 at 10:07 PM by marcw86
Here's the deal,
I was in the Marine Corps from 04-08 and got out. I've been out for a little over a year now and and debating on wether or not to go back in. I have gone through pros and cons but still find it hard to make up my mind. I dont want to sign another contract and regret it later. I was thinking of the Active Reserve program and lat moving to 7051. Any insight from anyone that has been through the AR process or in that MOS would be greatly appreciated. Has anybody else made this tough decision?

Have you thought about affiliating with your local reserve unit? This allows you a few options:

-Maintain identity with the Corps.
-Earn points toward a reserve retirement.
-Open doors towards additional active duty service: IA billets, EAD (extended active duty) and AR. The I/I staff can help you submit for these duties.
-If it doesn't work out, you can always drop back to the Inactive Ready Reserve as you are considered a "non-obligor".

Hope it helps. Yell if I can answer additional questions.

Yeah, making decision is very tough.. But I think whichever make you contented and happy, its up to you.. Making decision about it is just like retiring.Making the right retirement investing choices can be vital, as you don't want to be a slave to the credit cards when you should be enjoying the latter part of your life.
