With all due respect, Sgt Leprechaun, I believe it is specifically saying that only 46 felony waivers were granted, not 46 moral waivers in general.. There are atleast 4 or 5 Poolees that needed misdemeanor waivers at my RSS, myself included, and for the most part they were a non-issue. Hell, they made a bigger deal out of my dependent waiver than my misdemeanors.

However, I certainly agree that waivers are incredibly hard to come by these days.. It took me a good 6 months and 3 meetings with the CO of the RS to finally swear in. Good luck to those who need a waiver this year!

My Waiver just got approved yesterday, and i must say for me it did take a long time. It took 6 months but hey it was approved and i will be shipping out may 2011. I also got active duty instead of reserves now so im happy that it all fell in place. Through this entire process i have been trying to join since january 2008 and im just getting in due to moving from NC to Va and restarting my process. Im just glad the Marine Corps granted me the opportunity to attend bootcamp and better myself.

Sounds a lot like my case. I have been in the enlistment process since mid-09'. Had to get 15 college credits because of a homeschool diploma, as well as have those moral and dependent waivers approved.. It was a long process, but with a little patience and and motivation it all worked out in the end.
I was first told I would be signing a reserve contract for Landing Support Specialist, which was okay. Then a reserve contract for AAV crewman, which was cool. Then active contract for Combat Support, which was awesome. Finally, I recently signed my active duty 0300 contract, which is what I truly wanted. I couldn't be more happy and grateful for the way things turned out. My recruiters, the RSS SNCO, and the District CO all really put their necks on the line for me and hooked me up with everything I desired from the Marine Corps.. There is no way in hell I will ever let them down!

Quite possibly, a 'moral' waiver means felonies, etc. It may *not* mean very minor stuff.

I defer to your recent experience. However, the larger point I was trying to make was....

Waivers are darned near impossible to get. Not 'impossible'...but just about.

My recruiter posted this on his facebook, goes to show that the Marine Corps doesnt take any guy who just walks into a recruiting office.

I got a felony waiver for trespassing on a construction site. The recruiters at my RSS said they would fight for me since I had showed this is what I truly wanted and the felony wasnt something crazy like assault or drug dealing, but just a stupid decision to go somewhere I shouldnt have.

Yea i had to go to MEPS about 3 Times to get a medical waiver for my broken leg in middle school. It took only about an extra month but the process was still a pain. God Bless to all of you who had do wait a year or more to swear in. Jeez... Medical Waivers should always be given infront of criminal ones.

I had to have a waiver for asthma and the wait was unbearable. It took me months but I feel good about disclosing it, and I'm grateful that it was granted, I know the Marine Corps doesn't need weaklings, but it was really a case of growing out of it and my consultation proved it.

I met the recruiter on a thursday, the next day I took my ASVAB at MEPS and was sworn in by 1400 on the third day.
