I am signing up for the US Marines as an AAV Crewman, doing the 6x2 contract. I had a few questions regarding this;
What are the chances of deployment? I would assume rather high. Not sure though. if anybody had any exact stats about this I would greatly appreciate it.

How could the skills I learn as an AAV Crewman help me outside of the military?

What other jobs through active duty would give me a low chance of deploying? I scored a 95 on the ASVAB if that matters, so I'm generally open to any job I want. I am considering jobs that are frontlines such as AAV and jobs that aren't such as agnostics but I'm not sure what job wouldn't be deployed.

Thanks for all answers, they will all help me make my decision.

agnostics?...you mean logistics?

Just about every MOS deploys at some point, you can be with units that don't deploy.

AAV's is considered combat support like tanks and artillery. I have friends with an AD AAV unit just getting back from Afghanistan and they were on patrol all the time. As for being reserves your unit may not deploy but you yourself can deploy anytime you want to volunteer or do an individual augment.
