My son graduated from boot camp in San Diego last month with Lima Company, Platoon 3241. He's working today at the local recruiter's office as a recruiter's assistant, before heading off to ITB in a few days, so I'm asking this question for him.

Is PT at ITB as structured as at MCRD, or will there be time during the evenings or weekends to get into the gym or run or swim on your own?

If he's doing ITB, on the weekends he will have time to do those things, and PT on his own.

During the week, it'll be real structured.

The only way he wouldn't get the weekends off is if they are running their wonky compressed schedule. If they still are doing that at all.

There really isn't any PT at all at SOI, just a lot of hikes and fast paced range movements. If he wants to PT its going to be on his own time on liberty weekends which he is going to want to use to get off base and relax not PT.

So what would you suggest he do to improve his PFT score while at ITB? Will he have time? He's at 18 pullups and really wants to take his PFT score on up to 300 (it was 280 at boot camp).
