usmc3521
10-04-10, 01:15 PM
I dont have to go back to boot. Once you complete recruit training you never go back. I wouldnt mind though since its a cake walk now and it would be a nice refresher, I would request to be in 3rd bn so my cousin can be my DI, that would be funny sh*t!

I think I have to go to MOS school as I am being retrained as a 3531 driver

yes, I Know SSGT. It was just hard because I had the stigma of an OTH for something I didnt do. I watched my cousin and my wifes brother grow in the Corps and my wifes cousin who is a major at the pentagon in the USMC. I didnt feel like I could "belly up to the bar" with them because my time was cut short and I never really did anything. Its game on now though! Thank you everyone for you support,I appreciate it

I've been out since 2001. I am supposedly 4 years over...plus a few pounds. Waivers for both...however, I'll take the age waiver and run with it. The weight will have to come off and getting back in shape after having children is ca-RAZ-EE!! But do-able.

I'm new to this site. I still haven't gotten it figured out but looks like I've finally found some Marines that share a common interest so pardon me while I mark up your page!

You are coming back as a PVT? Isn't there a statute of limitations (or something along those lines) in which you only have so much time to go from Pvt to PFC? PFC to LCpl? LCpl to Cpl?

usmc3521
10-05-10, 07:55 AM
Lcpl Somasu, yes there is(i think the max you can be a lance is 6 years). I made Lance but when they accused my of being UA they also booted me to E-1 upon discharge. I just found out on my RELM that...

BTW, I was just reading a MARADMIN from 2010 talking about the "service limitations" It basically says that prior service that are coming back into the Marine Corps, only count time spent in the Marine Corps for purposes of service limitations.

I thought that was pretty good news as far as my situation goes.

Hey hey!! Easy now. Three times I cried in boot. (1) The initial shock of being yelled at for no reason. (2) Being forced to cut off two feet of hair because of "fly aways" and (3) My first set of orders....3381-Food Service.

I was in my freshman year of college when I signed up. My diet consisted of beer, cigarettes and Whataburger if I could afford it. Either that or fresh off of Momma's kitchen table or it didn't get eaten. I couldn't boil water with out burning it.

I was guaranteed MT but a girl chickened out for ship date. They called me to see if I wanted to go early. "Sure!!" I said. They didn't tell me it would pull my whole contract and I'd be open.

No worries though. Was good for me. I had a son, later married a man who had three children (who's mother died shortly before we all met). My step daughter at 8 was momma for all of them until I took over. They LOVED my cooking. Marine Corps order recipes did well with the family. Massive portions for a massive family. I could make a damn hot dog taste gourmet.

(We also added two more sons-total of 8 in the family)

I tried. Someone always came up. My MOS was filled up and every time I tried to put in a package for a MOS it would fill up. I tried recon, MP, intel specialist, career planner, and finally back to intel specialist when they opened up for 5 or so more boat spaces. Had my package finalized and BAM! found out I had to go to a 5 week SACO course for something that happened in 2007. After that little debacle the only MOSs that were open were counter-intel and some linguist job. I didn't have the GT score for either.

You can take the ASVAB over again. Thats what I would do, if anything you can go Reserves if you don't want completely out.

gwamo1
10-06-10, 10:40 PM
I did take the ASVAB over again, went from a 103 to a 101 when I was putting in my package for recon. So I submitted my package for the waiver and it filled up before I was approved. So the fact that I went lower in score kind of discouraged me from ever taking it again. I took the MASP class and studied. My EAS was originally 23 OCT 2009 and so I was still FY10 and for FY10 the only 2 MOSs open were ones I did not qualify for. I could not extend past September because then I would be in FY11 and taking up some other Marines' boat space.
