Interesting, I can see a bunch of billions of dollars being wasted to develop it. ;)

I mean it looks cool and futuristic, I'm not knocking that. But how practical, feasible, and expensive is it? But it doesn't surprise me that they are working on it, I was just at a military defense related conference and the sh it they have out there now, or are working on is straight up crazy.

Personally.... I would rather see the government put money in better body armor or better armor for the humvees that are currently in use.

Get what we have working properly before dumping money in a pipe dream.

Better Body Armor, better weapons jsut about anything that would hepl the Grunts on the ground besides some half baked hair brain idea as Flying Humvees. Beter ways to find and disarm IED's now that would be money well spent. This looks to me as someone has to much money and no where to go with it.

And brain the idiots that are nodding in agreement with him.

Maybe those same idiots will find a way to attach a magical anti-RPG shield to the "transformer" since the "lightly armored" design might need a little help.

I'm all for 'brainstorming," but when they confuse a brainfart for a "brainstorm" it's time to have a talk with the "team leader."

not just better but lighter body armor and a lighter SAW would be nice too

The idea is inarguably cool, props to the guy who thought of it. The military liaison/official/officer guy who is actually thinking of wasting US gov/DoD money on the project and then implement it in the military is stupid, b/c its a pointless piece of equipment that will never work well and be a total money pit.

Fvcking retarded.

Agreed. There are a Hell of a lot better things that the Corps could spend that kind of money on.

DARPA is supposed to work on dohickeys that are 1 to 2 decades away. ONR is supposed to work on nearer term gadgets. From that perspective, a flying humvee in 2030 doesn't seem like a bad idea.

I'm all for it, just don't take it from R&D and put it into today's battles.

Sputnik drove the creation of DARPA.....it took a little over 10 years to get a man on the moon.
