I know I'm not a Marine, so I apologize for posting, but Ray's brother e-mailed me this afternoon & stated that Ray was killed by an IED along with 3 other Marines today.

At this point, I have no further information, but felt it important to let those of you who knew him know...

All I've seen is this from a prior thread. Ignore the date. She said this info came from the young Marine's brother.

Ray, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to our country and for making the ultimate sacrafice! I am honored & humbled to have been able to call you a friend. Rest in peace! ♥

Nov 13 2010 Lcpl Raymon Johnson passed 1130 hrs. IED killed him along with 3 other Marines. Pray for his family and the other families too...

I Googled everything I could think of, I could find no reference of this. I find it hard to believe that there is no mention of this young Marine's death anywhere!

If the family just learned of his death, then there shouldn't be any public release from DoD until 24-hours after they were notified.

I'm really hoping this isn't true, I've also been searching high and low and the only thing I've found was this article; http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/10/13/afghanistan.troop.deaths/index.html?hpt=T2

I didn't know the young Marine but I just spent some time looking at some of his posts. So full of life, so wanting to be a Marine and to serve his country. How sad, how utterly sad

As I said on the other thread, RIP Marine and may God comfort and give solace to your family

Like Zulu said, if it happened today then it won't be made public for at least 24 hours after it happened. They need time to tell the family that it happened.
In country they call it "river city" and no one is allowed to use a phone or internet for 24 hours.

Rest in peace brother. We've lost too many good Marines and Corpsman in that sh!thole.

I didn't notice how old it was either, til after awhile......

Thank you all for your kind words, I am passing them along to his brother & family!"

Vanessa is very close to his family. Thank you for giving us this update. Any word on when the funeral will be? I have many Marine friends in Georgia who would deem it an honor and a privilege to attend. Please keep us updated Vanessa.

Good evening Marines. I have been in contact with Ray's twin brother (who serves in the Army), his family was notified this afternoon of his passing & he notified me at 1428 CST today. The only info I have found on this explosion is that 4 were killed, from what Ray's brother told me it was Ray +3 other Marines. Again, this is from what he has gathered from what he was told. His brother will be updating me, so I can update all of you.

While I do hope this is somehow a mistake...if it is not, thank you for all your kind words they are being passed along to his family.

I heard something about it on Fox, the only thing I keep my TV on. I never dreamed it could be one of ours, I mean, they are all ours, but one of our kids on here. I was going to post on his profile, but I'm with Kimberly on this one, I have to wait until confirmation.
