I apoligize for posting another thread but no question is a stupid question I hear Marines say that all the time.
We did this the other day with my fellow poolees why they joined etc. and with our recruiters and their experiences and it was very motivating.
So I was wondering if all Marines who are willing to tell why they joined the Marine Corps and their experiences as a Marine and their MOS's could explain a little about what they have accomplished and seen etc. For us poolees to get a better look at whats ahead.
(I apoligize if this has been posted before, I couldn't find anything on it, and everyone has different stories so its nice to hear them all)

For example we had Ssgt Lord (who is a Bad A$$ btw and cool as Sh*t) tell us hes been in for I think 12 years as infantry and lead Marines into Iraq twice and what they accomplished and how he regrets not going diagnal when he went striaght instead and one of his Marines died. He said that he would do anything for any of his Marines even if he didnt like them and had some good stories to tell us and get us more motivated and told us how its not as easy as it looks.

So if you would please explain your story...

I have not accomplished much yet but the biggest reason for me joining the Corps was to make a difference. Our country is in a vary fragile state right now and I wanted to be a part of making it better. I wanted to be able to look back years from now and be able to say I was a part of history being made in this country.

Originally a few years ago I was supposed to be going to OCS and commissioning by now. Things happened with school and was not able to go. I enlisted in the reserves in order to be able to finish school still, and instead of becoming an officer at this point I would rather be a locked on NCO and eventually SNCO. This would allow me to still be able to lead and mentor the finest fighting force on earth but will also allow me to have more hands on time with the Marines in my command. Hell, even now as a Lance I get the opportunity to make a difference with younger Marines because I am older than most.

And just like your SSgt. even though I don't personally like a lot of Marines I know I would still do anything for them. That what being a Marine is all about. When $hit hits the fan its not about politics, patriotism, or even the Corps at that point its all about taking care of the Marine next to you knowing he/she is doing the same for you.
