Nothing has been normal since Sept. 11, and the upcoming exchange of Camp Lejeune-based Marine expeditionary units is no exception.
This weekend, approximately 100 members of an advance party from the 22nd MEU are returning home from a Mediterranean deployment and will make preparations for the remaining 2,100 Marines and sailors to return the last week of August.
Meanwhile, the 24th MEU that will replace it still is at Camp Lejeune and New River Air Station. It is scheduled to deploy during the last week of August.
