Please Don't Tell Me We Don't Learn From The Past

A Convoy Commanders Lament:

As a Convoy Commander you constantly scrutinize the way each convoy is conducted. This SOP is especially accurate. Unfortunately, the things that I see Convoy Commander's of Trans units allowing their soldiers to do is disturbing. No flack vests on, Kevlar off, and weapons not at the ready are just a few of the things that I see on a daily basis. With the increase in attacks along the MSR, you would think that this would change. We had one incident that a convoy rolled right past a local standing in the median with an AK-47 at the ready just waiting for the trail vehicle. Not one soldier put lead on target! Thankfully, no one was injured and no equipment was damaged. Awarness of your surroundings is the key to staying alive along with an SOP just like this.
