Does she have a backup is the question. I imagine the police would want to examine the weapon she used, right?

SEMPER FI,

To be honest, she'd probably be safer on the Mexican border than the Detroit neighborhood she does live in.

After responding to a burglary call at a Rockford, Illinois home, police failed to apprehend the thief but found something that is perhaps much more interesting. WTVO reports (http://mystateline.com/fulltext-news?nxd_id=185655) that upon entering the home of an unnamed 67 year old resident they were surprised to find a weapons cache of over 300 weapons ranging from shotguns to rifles.
The homeowner, a registered firearm owner, was out of town at the time of the burglary. According to police, the weapons were taken for safekeeping. The guns will be cross-checked against police databases to ensure they have not been used for criminal activity.

Taking firearms for safekeeping in a situation like this is not unusual. I've done it a number of times. But as long as the firearms were legal (handguns properly registered and no unlicensed machine guns or short barreled shotguns/rifles) the owner got them back as soon as he/she asked for them.

I knew one guy who had this many firearms at his house (actually more like 500+) but he was a bona fide collector with an FFL and licenses for several machine guns (including a Vickers .303 and a Browning .30 water cooled, a Browning .30 air cooled, and two German M-42s, an MG-34, a BAR, and a few others).

But he also had a bunch of very high quality gun safes to keep them in, which were inside an alarmed vault he had made in his basement. His local PD was well aware of his collection, however.

And if it was a collection of Hummel figurines, or Beanie Babies, nobody would have batted an eyelash at thousands of them. <br />

The article doesn't say, but the implication was that those 300 firearms were not in a secured location. Otherwise how were the police able to take them and count them? I would hope that a person who collects that many firearms is smart enough, and rich enough, to have suitable safes to lock them in like my friend was.

I guess this guy was not either/or one of the above.

You would have thought he would have secured his weopons a little better than that as he had that meany but that is his to do. As for the police taking them for safe keeping ya it is done and I have done it myself. As for full-Auto weopons yes you can own them all you need is an FFL Auto Weopons permit then you can collect them at will each weopon would be registered just all weopons it would just an auto. Know of a bunch of poeple who do so as collectors some because they just like shooting up a lot of ammo at one time. Me I do not now nor will I ever have all the weopons I want or wish for.
