Joining the Marines as a foreigner

Hi i'm not an american citizen, i'm from italy. I went to a recruitment Office and they told me that i first need a green card and only after that i will be able to join. The problem is that i don't have any relative Who is american, and i'm not going to marry anyone to get te residenship... How can i get the residenship then? Joining the Marines is my dream.
I'm 19 by the way
