Sgt Arthur Fisher 11-20-1970

This marine has been buried in our Cemetary in North London since he died in action in Vietnam on 20th November 1970

I often think about what his last moments were in the "Land of the Living" and hope he went without even knowing what happened(I think he died in a mortar or grenade attack)and knowing that I wondered if ANYONE can tell me how I can find out some more info

Scroll all the way to the bottom and read the last section on general members of the public obtaining military records. You cannot access the records on-line, you will have to submit a request and, if approved, they will be mailed to you. You will not get his entire military record, but you should get enough to have a good picture of his career.

Also, it looks like the headstone needs a good power washing. That might be a nice service project for the local Boy Scout troop to do for the whole cemetery.

I was hoping to maybe find some of his friends on-line who served with him and I'd love to see a photo so I know what the man looked like.
I will go and check that link asap,as for the power washing of the headstone,its unfortunate but people just don't do anything for others in a big city like London anymore,everyone is far too wrapped up in themselves nowadays,but I will do my best to clean it up with a bucket and a brush and do a bit of tidying up.

I wasn't trying to shame you into cleaning the headstone yourself, although I'm sure the Marines here would appreciate it. I know I would. Here in the States, things like that are often done by Boy Scout troops, or even Cub Scout packs, as community service projects.

If you are able to get his service record, it might (might) include a photo of him. It would probably be the photo taken in boot camp for his first military ID card (with cue ball head and stunned expression). I've requested service records of non-relatives before and some had that photo, some didn't.
