Iron Sites?

I was recently part of a very privileged group to visit MCBH. While there I got to experience the Convoy Simulator. I noticed that only one rifle had iron sites the rest had scopes. I had trouble adjusting from scope vision to regular vision, I was wondering are iron sites becoming obsolete or less common?

You will use a scope once your out of boot camp. The purpose of learning to fire with iron sights is part of the basic marksmanship indoctrinate. You may loos your scope or some thing may happen in which you need to use plain ole iron sights, so you better know how to kill with them from 500 yards away.

I prefer iron sights over the acog anyday

A Marine doesn't need a scope unless you are a Sniper, we just had iron sights in my time, Semper Fidelis.

Nothing like a Marine firing from 500 meters with a peep sight and fron sight blade and hitting everything he is firing at. Nuff said. Who needs a scope?

If you can't hit with iron sights, what good is a scope going to do for you? There are a lot of other mechanics of rifle marksmanship besides seeing what you want to shoot at.

I prefer iron sights on the KD course. ACOG is okay, but has a tunnel vision effect you have to get used to. I normally use EOTECH if raiding buildings and ACOG on foot/vic patrols.

KD,,,,,, That's funny. Comes from the China Marines, 1938. I do love iron sites. Which is why I sold off my Halo,,, got in the way,,,,,,,,

Well I am bitter b/c first time I used ACOG on KD annual qual that **** came loose and I didn't realize it and I f'ing went unq!
