I've never really used this forum before, so I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm kind of stuck on this issue.
For SNCOs and Officers the T/O weapon is now the M4 service rifle, rather than the M9 service pistol. The T/O weapon change occurred this past year and requirements for exemptions to qualifications based upon T/O have not changed in the orders. I'm trying to sort out whether or not a CWO2 with an M9 service pistol still has to qual with it, despite it no longer being his T/O weapon. Per MCO 3574.2K as published 1 Aug 2007 he is required to do so as it is issued, but he questions it because of the change to T/O saying that the publications are supposed to be updated.
Can anyone support him, or me in saying, "It's the current order per HQMC and is thus the law for pistol qualification exemptions despite the recent change from the M9 to the M4 as the T/O weapon."?
