My name is Cpl Brandon Burghardt. I was wondering if anyone out there had any information on becoming an ANGLICO Marine. I am currently a reservist in Florida and my MOS is 3533. I want to go active duty a retire in the Corps as ANGLICO. I would like to have any information about how I can go about doing this or any info about ANGLICO in general that you would deem important to know. I still have about 3 years left on my 6 year contract so I was also wondering if I could switch MOSs and transfer to 4th ANGLICO in West Palm Beach, FL then go active when my reserve time is up. Thank you for reading such a long post and any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cpl Burghardt:

I got wind of your post from an ANGLICO fan. I have served here at 4th ANGLICO for 12 years, so I should be able to answer your basic questions.

First, you should know something of the mission of 4th ANGLICO. in West Palm Beach. In short, our mission is Fire Support (FS) and Fire Support Coordination (FSC). We support both American and Allied Forces.

We are made up primarily of Forward Observers, Communicators and Motor Transport Marines. In order to come here, you would have to do an inter-unit transfer. Because we are top heavy on Motor T types, you would then have to submit for a SMCR Lateral Move to one of our open MOS', in this case Forward Observer/Radio Operator.

If you want to go Active Duty, you would have to visit your local Recruiter and submit a Prior Service Enlistment Package (PSEP). I should forewarn you that a PSEP package is low on the priority list of any Recruiter, and is a lengthy process.

If you are currently a college student, I would encourage you to finish your degree, as there are a number of Reserve commissioning opportunities for Marines with a 2 or 4 year degree. You can better compare these programs at the following website:
