:) Nostalgia!,Great as the years crack on, April being the Quality month for me,It was in the April of 1947 that I swore the oath of allegiance and took the King's shilling and entered the Royal Corps and served for the next 25 years, nostalgia brings forth the good times, bad times and regardless of what specialist qualification obtained and what achievments we strive for being the Royal Marine is the ultimate aim.Over the years of service I have seen the landing craft ramps go down on foreign beaches, even heard the order 'fix bayonets',campaigns come and go 25 years service certainly brings forth buckets of nostalgia.
In this day and age of digital cameras, mobile phones and of course television
we see conflicts going on all over the world and the yearning to get back into the action again and it's not untill you reach for the walking stick and try to ease yourself out of the comfortable chair that nostalgia kicks in again.
Excuse the ramblings of this very old 'Bootneck' but having been absent from the forum for some time I thought I would reach for the keyboard and start reporting again,no doubt my 'Oppo' Rob the 'paraffin pigeon' pilot will be on hand to comment on age and ability.Aye JR
