Hello.

I've had some questions about the uniforms. Which ones are you issued? I know the Alphas come standard after Boot but what about the Dress Blues? Do you have to purchase those seperately?

Thank you.

Just don't think they are actually issuing you free uniforms. Believe me, they DO take it out of your paycheck!

If they are issuing blues in boot camp now, i think those of us who has to pay $500 + for ours should get reimbursed. haha.

Like everything we got "issued" in boot camp, we paid for them. I think we paid slightly less than average because the uniform supply at the depots charge less than the average MCX but I didn't get...

^ While you "pay" for them you get this wonderful thing call clothing allowence, it comes only a couple of times during your 4 year contract on active duty.

Clothing allowance isn't much but if you use it as intended and correctly it will cover your costs, but all of us who have been around for many years and multiple enlistments know that clothing allowance doesn't cover ALL costs by any means. There will always be last minute PX calls.

Funny enough, I got a clothing allowance payment rolled into my final pay when I got out.

True, I remember getting said allowance right around the beginning of the year.

It's a paltry 300 bucks, though (somewhere around that figure). Not enough to cover five sets of cammies, alphas, chucks, blues and Danners. :O New recruits do fork over quite a bit out of pocket for the stuff.

I guess I was "lucky" to break my ankle; two extra months on depot sorta made up for the measly first two paychecks.

I never got blues, until after I got out, I got them for free. Then I sold them later on. Wish I still had them now.
