Good evening Marines,
I was wondering if any of you killers out there had any opinions on watches. I'm looking for something I can use on our upcoming deployment to the ghan. I looked on usstandardissue and saw those oakleys. Not sure what to think though. Thank you in advance.

Well, my DI recommended the cheap Timex Ironman watch in boot camp, and although I haven't deployed, it has lasted me for two and a half years already, still looks like new.

I have owned 3 G-Shocks in 25 yrs including my 4 yrs. in the Corps, 6 yrs as a plumber and 15 yrs as a mechanic they have been beaten ,I even used to just take it off while in the Corps and throw it against a wall at 10 ft. away just to show others it's durability and my Dad wore that one until he bought a new one.Very durable mine has been everywhere from 3000 ft. in the air to 100 ft below the Pacific still working they need batteries about every 6 or 7 years .They have a good track record with me.Good Luck and Semper Fi

Those G-Shock watches look outstanding....but $150 for a damn watch? I think most Marines are looking for something functional, tactical, and cheap.

$150?!?!? Where are you looking?

$38 from Amazon or you can usually get them on base. I got mine at MCRDSD when I graduated, I know they had them at Pendleton too at a couple places on base.

I went to the actual G-Shock website. I was probably looking at all of the expensive **** that they put up on the front of the page. Most of them were $100+!

By the way, thanks for the link Hanzo. I currently wear a POS all black digital Timex in uniform. I'm hoping it breaks soon so I can get me a new G-Shock.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. Go with the cheap one. That'w what my Drill Instructor recommended to us, its what I wore (and most other Marines at Pendleton that I saw while I was there) and I can't say enough good things about it.

The fact of the matter is, you need a watch that will hold up to abuse (weather and shock), will keep accurate time and I like the ability for it to light up. (there are different schools of thought on this) Thats it. Keep it cheap because we all know, theres nothing in the world thats Grunt-proof.

Casio G-shock with rubber/plastic wrist band. The only thing I had to replace was the battery after 5+ years. Don't get the one with the fabric wrist band, although it will last, they start stinking after awhile even when you wash it completely because it wicks in sweat and moisture.
