Good day Marines,

I have a question pertaining to Weight and though searching I still could not find a good answer. I am 6' 2" and weigh 230 lbs. Over the past 5 1/2 months I have been hitting the Gym 5 days a week every week. I know for a fact I have put on muscle because I can see it, I used to weigh 285 lbs. Now my question is: if I can pass the IST at my current weight would I still need to get down to 227 lbs in order to ship? I found this (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/marinejoin/l/blintweightmale.htm) but I am not sure if it is updated let alone a reliable source. Regardless I would feel much better shipping at 200 lbs instead of 227, less is more.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, have a nice day Marines.

Slow down there, you don't even have a shipdate yet.
Have you talked with a recruiter yet, taken the ASVAB, decided on a MOS, going active duty or reserves? Have you been in any kind of trouble or have any medical conditions that might require a waiver?
If you're going active duty, it will be a while before you even ship out to boot camp, so if you have any other weight to lose, you'll be able to lose it by then. It's not like you take the ASVAB, sign papers, go to MEPS and then you're off to boot camp. All of this will take a while.
This might help some.........

Marines are not permitted to have a nice day, unless the CMC declares it a have a nice day, day.
