I"m trying to decide what MOS to go for. If I had the option I would choose a 03xx MOS, however as a reservist the only two slots available right now are a 2111 small arms repair position, and a 0621 field radio operator position. Optimally, I'd like an MOS with maximum outside of the wire exposure, but from what I gather it's a coin toss for what unit I am assigned to. So, can anybody tell me what day to day on deployment is like for either position? Any help is much appreciated.

The radio operator MOS gives you the *best* chance to get 'outside the wire', but realistically neither are 'regulars' on patrol. Some of the other Marines with boots on the ground experience can give more insight, but that is what I've gathered from listening to them.

2111-Armorer is a very non-"out the wire" MOS...and while it has its pros, it has just as many cons. On deployment they made sure everybody did get some time doing patrols though, regardless of MOS.

Id tell you to go AD though...
