Do marines usually wear the uniform while traveling on commercial aircraft, like flying home on leave?

There are quite a few uniforms that we as Marines are "Authorized" to wear while on Leave and Liberty. Refer to MCO P1020.34 (you can google it). Camouflage Utilities are a big exception to the rule. Cammies ARE NOT authorized for wear while on Leave and Liberty.

Within the past couple of years with the protesting going on the some Marine Corps commands are advising not to wear the uniform while in transit....meaning that they are suggesting that if you are going to the SOI go to the USO with your uniform bag....get dressed in the head...and then proceed to your command to check in.

But as answered there are various uniforms authorized for leave, liberty and travel.

One of the problems though with traveling a distance in uniform is when you get to your destination you may look like a bag of worms or a shiat sandwich so you have to constantly check your appearance to make sure you are not.
