Sue and I had the privilege of working as evangelism councilors in a music ministry for many years back in the 80's and early 90's. It proved to be an experience that changed our lives forever.

Since the 60's and probably many years before young Christians have written music about their faith in contemporary tunes.
I being a traditionalist was shocked at the boldness of these young whippersnappers to take sacred music and "Jazz it up". Then I listened to the hearts of these young Christians and saw the passion in their eyes and hearts and I began to understand that even King David was writing the Psalms out of the passion in his heart to express to God his love in music.

Today I begin to share with you some of the awesome lyrics and music created by todays young people to express their passion and Love for Jesus.

Following are the lyrics of a song that melts me into tears of thankfulness when I hear it played. I hope it moves you likewise. May God stir your spirit and heal your hurts as you hear the heart of God through them.

This young group of youth leaders has been tremendously successful in Contemporary Christian music circles. They have many songs like the one I have shared that you will love as I do.

As you read the lyrics you can listen below.

Casting Crowns sing

WHO AM I

Who am I that the Lord of all the earth would care to know my name, would care to feel my hurt. Who am I that the bright and morning star would choose to light the way for my ever wondering heart.

Not because of who I am but because of what you've done, not because of what I've done but because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow, a wave tossed in the ocean, a vapor in the wind. Still you hear me when I'm calling. Lord you catch me when I'm falling. You told me who I am. I am yours.

Who am I that the eyes that have seen my sin would look on me with love and watch me rise again. Who am I that the voice that calmed the sea would call out thought the rain and calm the storm in me.

I am yours.

Not because of who I am but because of what you've done, not because of what I've done but because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow, a wave tossed in the ocean, a vapor in the wind, still you hear me when I'm calling Lord you catch me when I'm falling, Lord you told me who I am. I am yours.
