I am supposed to leave for basic january 25th and I am ready to go. My mos is 0621 field radio operator and nothing has changed since I enlisted in june. The recruiter told me now that HQ might be shuting down the month of january so I would have to leave in may. Can they really do that it doesn't make sense to me at all.

Of course they can. The needs of the Corps come first, get used to it.
The Marine Corps can do whatever the heck they want with you now.
You belong to them.
