I'm just curious what one could write if he/she is in a band and recently joined the Marines reserve? Can the lyrics be about emo(tional), political, but nothing offensive or against war or the military. For example, if that person is in a band who writes emotional lyrics, can he do it? Thanks.

Hmmmm.....

"Emotional"? Like, as in (In the immortal words of Beavis and Butthead) "Whiny college music"?

LOL.

In all seriousness, it's not going to matter unless you are disrespecting someone in higher authority.

LOL!

We wrote and re-wrote all sorts of obscene lyrics 'back in the day'. But that was before 'utube' and the internet.

Ahh, the forum just says 'Ask a Marine'. LOL. No worries. It could have been another 'Womens Hygiene' question.....

I do believe in answering all things as best I can. Yes, this query was off the wall, but it's the net. Maybe he is serious, Hey, songwriter? Get my point? Write away, but don't make waves. It's in your best interest.

there are bands out there who are all active military members. in my old platoon there were 3 guys and who had a band called American Hitmen and they played all the local venues and even in Iraq. 2 of them got to play on stage with Charlie Daniels at TQ.

i just thought that all people write lyrics and some form or join bands, and the Marines is no exception. i wanted to know if certain use of words in lyrics would be better left unwritten and unsung. so far, a lot of positive reply about this being ok long as we don't go off the wall.

like what somebody else said don't go writing your command or the president in any of your songs. do believe you'll catch a 134 if you do!
