This very well might be the Greatest Single Season any CB has ever had in the history of the NFL

In 10 Games he faced one of the leagues truly elite WR's and NOT ONE even reached 40 Yards Recieving with four being held under 30 ... and in all 10 Games (verses the NFL's elite WR's) combined he surrendered a Grand total of ONE TD RECEPTION, and that was a little two yard button-hook

This is the era when every rules change has been designed to make the "Shutdown Corner" obsolete

And aside from all that he is also a very physical DB (see the video for the TO KO out of bounds) who is a terrific tackler and excellent in run support as well

The NFL may have just witnessed the Greatest Single Season by a Cornerback in league history. It was in my eyes.

He was definetely playing some good old fashioned football yesterday. Lots of contact, no separation.

Good reason for him to go to the Pro Bowl.

DPOY is going to be close this year. Darren Sharper of the Saints I think had 9 pix. Woodson, I believe had six pix for TD's out of the 9. Revis had six pix also, the difference is that he faced superior competition in the WR's and faced the number 1 on each team by himself.

Look at the averages of those WR's and then look at the chart I posted. Not even close. Randy Moss in 2 games had 9 catches for 63 yards. Against most teams he does that on one catch.

By the way, Revis is just in his third year. Every team in the NFL is looking for the next Revis at CB

during pregame.. ochocinco said he would change his name back to Johnson if he was shut-out by Revis.. he had 0 receptions and was thrown to 4 times.. I wonder if he has submitted the court paperwork for the legal name change yet.. hahahaha

It's not just that he's negated so many big names this year (the table tells the story). The real revelation is how well the Jets have shut down #1 receivers of any note. According to Football Outsiders' defensive stats, the average yards-per-target for passes thrown to #1 receivers in the NFL this season is 8.1. The Jets have allowed an amazing 4.24 yards per target to those same types of receivers -- almost half the league average and the NFL's best by a huge margin (the Philadelphia Eagles are second with a 5.43 average to the top guys)

I just read a pretty cool write up on Revis this past sunday in my local paper. We went to same High School I am a few years older than him but he was a true athlete his whole life. Little known fact he went to the same high school as - Ty Law, Mike Ditka, Sean Gilbert, Josh (Bernard) Lay. If you are into College football Johnathan Baldwin(same HS and College as Revis) wide out from Pitt is also hopefully going to great in the NFL in the future if he elects to go.
