My 3 yr. old "Seth" wants to be a Marine.
my Blues pic from Boot hangs on the wall with some of my
other stuff. He will look at it and say,
"I'm gonna wear that"
I ask when? He says, "Not now Dad, but i'll get bigger"
This very young man has a hard life from the beginning.
Was born low birth weight, some kind of digestive problem
and a respiratory malfunction.
He is one tough little man. Fought like a shot up Jarhead through
all of that and still tiny for his age.
i'm talking about a head and a half smaller than everyone in
his head start class. There is no quit to this kid.
Nothing slows him down and I'm happy to say that he is
Healthy as a horse now.
I come home from the salt mine and say "Hey Jarhead"
he says," I'm not Jarhead dad, but I'm gettin bigger".
Do you know how proud of this young Man I am?
Just wanted to share this on our Birth Day.
Semper Fi. Marines.

That young man's got his head on a stacking swivel alright.

I'm swelling with pride after reading that; you've got yourself an outstanding young Devil Dog.

That's a great story Danny.
My 6 yr. old says he wants to be a Marine now but a couple of weeks a go he wanted to be a Moose Hunter..LOL.
Your young man has a big heart and pretty soon the rest of his body will catch up with it.
Give him my best.

Fine story, brought a tear to my eye. I'm an old dog now with grown up kids. I envy you a young family full of a wonderus future.
I could smell the pride from that post, and I understand.

I'm an old dog too actually but with a new family.
My oldest is my daughter who is 21 and has my
10 mo. old Grandson.
My 21 yr. old was born in the base hospital 29 Palms.
She is very proud of that fact and brings it up often.
Calls herself a Desert Rat, lol. Lives here in Ok. close to Dad though.
My young'uns are my joy.
3 yr old Seth is the standout though.
He will prolly want to be a moose hunter, Fireman, Policeman
and the President.
But when he sees anyone is Military Uniform he just stares.
Stiff as a statue. Blank look in his eyes and I just know.
The way a parent does.

I don't remember much from that first week of boot camp, but I do remember one of our receiving drill instructors pulling out my buddy, who was the shortest recruit in the platoon. He made fun of his height for a little bit while explaining drill, then suddenly stopped and told us "Hey, don't get me wrong. I love my mighty mouses (sic). They may be the smallest recruits, but they got the biggest hearts."

That sounds just like your son.

Yes it does.
I'm convinced that Seth will be one of those
"little guys" that can clash and thrash.
He is already learning the "very basics"
of ShotoKan from me and his Mother is wicked
in Tae Kwon Do.:scared:
When he gets a little older I'll start him in very basic drill.
Then comes Daddy's .22 Rifle.
The list goes on, but not forced.
Little booger seems to be good at everything he does though.
Outstanding in School too. Teachers love him.
They say he motivates the other kids to do whatever is
going on at the time. Makes if "fun" lol.
I think the Little Big Man may be a natural leader.
Can never have enough of them.
