Housing Question

Since my husband got out of the Marine Corps i heard that people who live on base now have to pay rent. How does this work because i thought living on base was rent free? Can someone please explain how this works so i am prepaired for when my husband reenlist after Jan 01, 2010... Thanks

You will receive the BAH w/ depns rate for your zip code. Then you will write a check to the housing company for that amount.

I just got into base housing here in Hawaii. The Sgt is correct on writing the check, but here they do an allotment if you want where they take the BAH out automatically so you don't have to write a check.
