The End of the Great Game

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exclusive commentary by Martin Kelly

Aug 15, 2003

On September 11th 2001, the British Foreign Office issued travel advice that no British citizen should travel to any Muslim country. On August 12th 2003, a British citizen was arrested in New Jersey on suspicion of attempting to sell a Surface to Air Missile to Islamist terrorists. On August 13th 2003, British Airways cancelled all flights to Saudi Arabia for the foreseeable future, on the basis of a credible threat against their aircraft.

The House of Saud is the parent of all this, and of all Islamist terror. The House of Sand has chosen to engage in a World War, its weapon its faith. It needs to be more than just defeated. It needs to be punished for the harm it has inflicted upon those who were previously indifferent to its barbarity and backwardness.

Its universities teach their students to hate, hate they then bring around the world. Over the past two years since the event that cries to Heaven for vengeance, terror groups supported, funded or trained by Saudis have:

- massacred holidaymakers in Bali

- massacred a troupe of native dancers dependent on tourism for their livelihoods in
Kenya

- massacred foreign workers in Riyadh

- massacred holidaymakers in Tunisia

- massacred holidaymakers in Casablanca

- massacred injured soldiers at a military hospital in Chechnya

- taken hundreds hostage at a performance of a musical comedy in Moscow

- massacred rock fans at a festival in Moscow

- attempted a homicide attack on the Indian Parliament

- massacred churchgoers at an American school in Pakistan

- massacred eleven French engineers in a homicide bombing in Pakistan

- continued to perpetrate terror against an international peacekeeping force in a country they ruined, Afghanistan.

This is all the work of one family, a family who have no other claim to their position other than birth and no accomplishment to their names other than hate, poison and a ruthless passion for power. They are the most profoundly un-American people, and your government’s pretence of civility with them should now be over.

I read a lot about Islam, and one of the constant themes of writers like Daniel Pipes is the need for moderate Islam, if necessary through some kind of Reformation. I can’t see it ever happening. The call to Jihad, whether the sanitised, fit for Western consumption Higher Jihad or the more historically accurate, martial Lesser Jihad is too strong a theme in Islamic history for Islam ever to be regarded as a peaceful faith. The House of Sand identifies itself with the most potent form of extremism, paying for the construction of mosques around the world whose sole purpose is preaching hate. All of the groups responsible for the atrocities listed above follow the same form of extremism as the House of Saud. These groups are the ones that have taken up the sword. Equally dangerous are the pressure groups that take Saudi money and use it to subvert civil society.

In case anyone doubts the ultimate political intentions of the Islamic groups that receive Saudi money, here are two quotes that Pipes has brought to the world’s attention, and for which America owes him a debt. These are the words of Omar Ahmad, President of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) speaking in California in 1998:

“Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran…should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”

And here’s Ibrahim Hooper, high officeholder in CAIR:

“I don’t pretend that I wouldn’t like the government of America to be Islamic at some point in the future”

The very name Council for American-Islamic Relations shows that those who operate it identify themselves in some way as being strangers in their own land. Ibrahim Hooper is a native of Minnesota, a Midwesterner who now sees himself as being separate from America because of his beliefs but worthy of special treatment in America because of them. Being as generous as it is possible to be to him, a posture which grows harder with every word he says, he is a classic victim of the old colonial game of ‘Divide & Conquer’, except that this time, you, America, are the subject of the game.

Some of the most thrilling episodes in the history of the British Empire took place during the ‘Great Game’, the Cold War that took place between Britain and Russia for the control of Central Asia and India during the nineteenth century. Since the first drop of oil poured out of the ground, Saudi Arabia has been playing a Great Game of a very different sort, one it has been absolutely determined to win, using its faith as a shield. The Game is exposed. Game over.
