Hi my name is Mike,
The Sergeant Major interviewed me yesterday and he told me my job I am assigned is Security Forces. I originally told my recruiter that Security Forces was one of the jobs I would like to get, but I didn't know much about it at the time. When I did some research I found out that Security Forces isn't the kind of job I wanted, so I was wondering If I can still change my job to infantry?

You can change your MOS as long as you are qualified and there is an opening in the MOS field you want.
Your are really not obligated until you sign the final contract and raise your hand in oath.
This is really a question that needs to be posed to your recruiter and have him find out the available MOS's.
From what I am reading on this site the Marine Corps is in a position to pick and choose whom they want.
Infantry is a hard MOS now to get an opening in....speak to recruiter and the RSS NCOIC ASAP!

I must say, 'your' Sergeant Major is going to be real pleased with your changing your mind after they were able to get you what you wanted.
Seems to me you would have done a bit of research early on.

Lol, way to say F-YOU SgtMaj! I'm sure he won't mind.
Wow, he said "The" SgtMaj.
...I wonder if his name is Kent.

Who cares if the SgtMaj will be displeased, it's your life and your 4 years. Pick the job you think you'll like. Lesson learned, moving on.

Thank you very much Marines for answering my question. I have learned my lesson, and I will talk to my recruiter about changing my job when I see him next week at Pool function.

Sounds like the SgtMaj went out of his way to tell you, that you are Security Forces. I've never heard of a SgtMaj personally talking to a Poole about what his job is going to be. On that note it is your choice, but be prepared to have to SgtMaj have a talk with you, and don't be surprised if he gets onto your Recruiter as well, and then your Recruiter tells you no. **** Roles Down Hill. The current Job market is tough in the Corps, not alot of careers to choose from, and some kids are even being turned away due to max retention, and recruiting. Be grateful you have a job, hell I know alot of guys that would give there left nutt to be in Security Forces. SF:nerd:

Thank you for the words of wisdom Marine. The SgtMaj actually interviewed all the poolees at the pool function that day. And yes, I know that in the end it all comes down to what the Corps wants and not what you want, but if I have a chance to get the job I want then I want to seize the opportunity. Also if I found another poolee with infantry as his MOS, would I be able to trade contracts or w.e with him?
