IIRC, it depends upon the budget of the Marine Corps at the time of graduation, and I was told by my DI's, the company budget of which you belong too. I went in February and got mine issued.

Nothing is truly "issued" in boot. All of it comes from your first few paychecks. Only in CIF and Supply do you get gear issued, and even then, if it's not pristine when you turn in back in despite it going on hundreds of field exercises and a deployment or two, you pay for it. Retardedly asinine.

You pay for it, but you also end up getting an initial uniform issue allowance, which I believe covers all of your initial clothing costs.

The people who work at clothing are complete jerks though. I don't care if they're all retired gunnies or what have you, they still have a job to get all of the graduating recruits all of their initial issue, complete with everything they need.
