Compiled by Desert Warrior Staff
The Bark Park, Yuma's first dog park, opened Oct. 3, 2009, with the help of some local Marines.
Members of Marine Air Control Squadron 1 were recognized during the park's ribbon cutting ceremony for their volunteer work in September.
The Marines helped place irrigation systems, spread gravel and plant trees.
A placard was dedicated to the Marine Corps to recognize the MACS-1 Marines' efforts.
The 3.35-acre, leash-free dog park, located at 1705 E. Palo Verde Street, will be open from dawn until 9 p.m., Wednesday through Monday. It is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.
