I depped today and my best option was MOS 0411, so I was wondering if anyone who had served this job had any stories or information about it as I don't really understand much about it. I'm also going reserves with a big passion for going active ASAP, and being able to be deployed, so I was curious about how viable this MOS would work for that. Thanks.

P.S. I'm sorry if theres another similar thread, the computer I'm stuck using wont work with the search function.

Yah I read the description, but I was looking more for personal takes on the job, not just the outline of it. Peoples experiences with the duties and stuff, what they actually end up spending their time doing.

Well as too the MOS, It's pretty demanding. You deal mainly with the maintenance of the unit you are assigned too. I am basically MMC (Maintenance Management Clerk) for 3d Sup Bn so I am basically assigned to our armory, MT, and our supplies. If something is defective I gotta order them. If something is going through repairs I write EROs. Depending on your unit you may be using PCMIMMS 2.0 or PCMIMMS 1.0, usually you will be using PCMIMMS 2.0 since it is more family friendly. Depending on the size of your unit or where you are placed (Batallion, Regiment or Company), the job may be more or less demanding. If you need any help hit me up andres.ojeda@usmc.mil

I was an 0411 from 2005 until 2008 assigned to 2/11 Golf Battery and Kilo 3/12. I can tell you exactly what I did, although I'm positive your experience will vary as all Marine Corps experiences do. Day to day let me give you a random sample: Okay, so America is at war, you are on a ship in the middle of the pacific and your a en route to Tazmania. You live in a tiny little bunk and are completely surronded by buff-ass alpha males who live and breathe only to eliminate and terrify threats to the USA. You drank a bunch of water and are wrestling with a dip s motor T dink who decides to step on your stomach. You smash his face in with a wall locker. You later kiss and make up. Chow is crap, but you don't care because you are getting paid... peanuts. But it's for your country and you have a future because uncle sam is paying for it with the GI Bill so **** yeah. Oh yeah, and you to talk some mechanics and armorers later about their gear because it might be screwed up and you have to order some parts. There are ERO's, PCMIMMS (dunno if they have evolved off that MSDOS program yet) and 4 cards you gotta write to get the stuff which will be here sometime between 16 weeks and forever, but they'll get it... 0411

Remember, you're going to be the lowest on the totem pole when you get to the fleet so be prepared to basically never do anything cool until you pick up some rank.

Since when do Marines and sailors have bunks anyway? I know Air Force and Army troops do - cause they never go to sea aboard a Naval vessel.

I wrote it because it's difficult to find information on this MOS without all the jargon. It's not so much for this particular guy as for future 0411's.
