5 year contract/ G2?

My friend is going to Paris Island in the end of Oct, and he got a contract different then what he had before. He says he gets the infantry spot he wanted as well as a 5-year contract and 4 grand, it is called a g2 he said. Does anyone know any more details about this or any thing more or is it that simple?
