I'm having some trouble finding a current list of critical MOS's....does anybody know where I can find one. Anything I find on GOOGLE or here in the forums is out of date. Thank you Marines.

I don't know where to find a list, but I know a few are

Career Retention Specialist
EOD
Counter Intel
MarSoc* not really a MOS but it's considered a critical needs MOS for lat move purposes.

Doc, you can never have enough corpsman around!

And thanks BR34, not exactly what I was looking for but a start. It's frustrating because about 2 months ago I found it somewhere but never saved the link or printed it out....

Almost everything in the air wing is a critical MOS, simply cause of the time and money it takes to train those individuals.

The critical MOS's that I'm talking about are ones that are under manned......

Why I'm looking for this info is because the Commandant put out an order making it easier for Marines to LAT move to "critical" MOS's.....

Unfortunantly for me Infantry is not on that list...my goal now is to find the next closest MOS that will bring me closer to the fight

Have you seen The Hurt Locker....it's about an Army EOD unit in Iraq.....it may be an Army movie but it's still motivating as f***

Anyway, I realize playing with IED's is close to combat....but I like it better when I'm the one putting rounds down range (not playing with them). I do respect what EOD does though...they are some bad mother****ers

Yeah no doubt, just not for me. I got no problems with carrying a rifle and doing patrols or houses, but I'm not going to start screwing with the crazy **** they rig up for us to walk into.

I am not sure if it qualifies, but the 5800 field (military police) is always in need. I was in my 2nd year of IRR when i had to get rescreened to be reactivated. There was nothing but 03's and 58's there........talk about an unhappy group of people, lol.

Check with your CRS (Career Planner/Jammer) he/she will have all the answers you need.

I was talkin with an EOD guy a few weeks ago and he said that movie is nothing like the real thing. I think I can see where he's comin from.

I ended putting in for a LAT move to 0311 and it got approved....we didn't think it was going to happen but it did. Everything happens for a reason. I'm sure the grunts will give me **** for being a lat mover but I don't give a crap.

All I have to say that if anybody is looking to do a lat move go and talk to your Career planner. Also, a lot of those critical MOS's are being filled so hurry up and put your package in before somebody else get's it.

One critical need for the Marine Corps is retention in the 03 field, at least it was in 08, which was the last Message I saw about critical needs of the Marine Corps. So now that you've got your MOS, stick with it and be an awesome NCO and help keep guys alive and efficiently killing folks. Good luck, and don't worry about acceptance. Grunts are some of the most practical and smart Marines out there. If you have a good attitude and aren't a liability, you should be fine.

Thanks for the advice...I'm still waiting for a school date but my package was accepted. Like I said I'm sure they'll give me some crap but I'll just have to prove myself. I might be a POG but at least I have the balls to go over to the infantry (It's a long story but that's what I was supposed to be when I first joined)
